Thank you for sharing this, it’s wild how many people I’m seeing that feel the same way around Instagram, and how many of us have made our way here.

As an artist it’s a weird thing to navigate with content and releasing music, I’m still figuring it out - but it’s reassuring to know I’m not alone in these thoughts!

I think it’s especially tricky as an artist. I would not recommend leaving platform in that case, as it’s essential for marketing. But it does help to distinguish the professional from the personal and start from there.

Absolutely - and after a long time of not posting but slowly reemerging into the space, I’m taking more time to figure out what that looks like and to move forward more aligned. It’s a tricky one for sure!!

Thanks for sharing. It’s nice to know others feel the same, I too keep seeing more of these articles, each one pushing me closer to the edge. Loved that quote, especially … “and social media no longer feels like a place to be; it is a surface to skim.” … nailed it. And it really is so boring 🥱

I feel it’s the majority of us who feel this way, even if we don’t express it in these terms.

The tension from the "in theory" necessity of working on that network, and the lost time, is unsustainable. I want to see if I can go to a week-on, week-off model. How do you deal with that? Do you delete the app and reinstall it? (I feel like this is a silly question, sorry.)

That’s one way. Personally I’d lean towards deactivating and reactivating, so people don’t expect replies when they DM me. I also have friends who only use Instagram from web, or only from a particular device (not their main phone).

Thats interesting! Thanks!

Good luck! I’ve found it always helps to stay goal oriented and reminding myself of why I’m (not) doing what I’m doing
