I have left social media years ago and very happy with that. I'm not perfect though and still use my phone more than I'd like to. I'm a member of the library and have the libby app. Sure, reading on paper is 'better' but reading a book on your phone is better than scrolling on instagram (imo), so it could be a helpful tip for people who want to have better phone habits.
I am probably going to break down and get a Brick soon. I have ADHD and cannot rely on willpower alone to avoid using my phone. I wish this wasn't necessary, but literally everything is too addictive nowadays.
Great article! My wife just got a Brick. Have you read Digital Minimalism? I did the 30 day experiment after and really changed my relationship with my phone. It’s creeped back up again but I still have certain apps that aren’t installed.

I know that feeling!

I haven’t, though I think I’ve ‘read’ Cal Newport’s Deep Work before as an audiobook.
Super curious about people’s Brick experience as I think they’re a bit on the pricey side, so I haven’t tried personally yet.
